Starting a Blog 101 – Week 1

*Is enjoying day off*

Yup, Blog 101 is here! I’m no expert or anything, I don’t have 3000 followers. But I would like to share all I know to help out some of the newer bloggers who started a blog this year, or are considering it. This week, I’m going to cover the actual making of the blog.

blog101Step 1- Should I Start a Blog?

This is the first first step of creating your blog. If you’re starting a blog for popularity or money, stop. Blogging isn’t about that. I grantee all the teen or tween blogs you’ve ever seen before has started out as a just-for-fun blog with  0 readers. Ask anyone.

So if you’ve decided you want to start your blog for the right reasons, you may be wondering about commitment. Relax, you don’t have to post every day. Do what works for you. I try to post around three or four times a week.

Step 2- Creating the Blog

There’s a lot of places where you can start a free blog, such as: WordPress, Weebly, Blogger, and Tumblr (which isn’t a traditional blog, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re interested in sharing longer stories. Tumblr is more like short posts and pictures).

Step 3- Designs

You can make your blog fun with themes and colors. How to do it depends on the type of blog you choose, so look up a tutorial for whichever you choose. Make sure your blog represents you.

I hope you enjoyed this post. (Expect a lot of posts in April for NaPoWriMo). The next parts will be longer. Remember, my writing challenge starts July 5.
