Hello, everyone! Today I’m going to share how I write short stories, along with some tips I’ve learned along the way. I’ll be doing 3 or 4 parts.
Writing a Short Story, Part 1
“It’s a beautiful day today,” I think. “Hey, maybe I should write about a girl who gets kicked out an orphanage, meets a villain with a dragon shadow, and goes to a futuristic world and meets 5 kids there!”
Yeah, no. Coming up with that story idea (also known as Dragon’s Fire) took a lot of time and Pinterest. Finding story ideas can be easy if you know what to do. Here are some ways I find inspiration:
There are some everywhere. A lot of bloggers (including myself) post writing prompts on their blog. Pinterest and Tumblr are full of thousands of intriguing writing prompts as well. There are some really cool prompts that get your creative juices flowing.
This might seem cliche, but sometimes just thinking can give you ideas. As a writer, your mind is open to amazing ideas. Go Teen Bloggers is having a daily story idea challenge here for February, which can boost your creative thoughts.
Dreams + Everyday Life.
Inspiration can come from the things that are happening to you daily. Your dreams too, especially- they are the craziest part of your day, if you can remember them.
That’s it for the first part! I hope you enjoyed. What do you use to find story ideas? Share in the comments below. Stay tuned for part two: the first draft.
